About Summer Challenge 08
You’ll be away from home for seven weeks living in military accommodation in Aldershot, Hampshire, where you will learn military skills such as tactical combat, weapons and decisive decision making.
Food and accommodation will be provided and in your free time the base has a social club.
All soldiers under training will conduct all their military and driver training at Malta Barracks, Aldershot, with the adventure training being located at the Calshot Adventure Training Activities Centre near Southampton.
Selection
After registering interest in Summer Challenge 08 you will be contacted by your local TA Centre career advisor, who will advise your next step.
All participants who want to take part in Summer Challenge 08 will be expected to take part in a centralised selection event, which will take place at the Army Development Selection Centre at Pirbright, Surrey over the weekend June 14 – 15 or June 21 – 22 2008. Successful candidates will be invited to be part of the main Summer Challenge 08 training which will commence on July 19 2008.
Every participant will receive joining instructions and will be issued military clothing, including boots, prior to the event.
If, after starting Summer Challenge 08, you discover that it is not for you, there’s no legal obligation to stay. In other words you are free to leave if you choose. The Army recognises that these decisions can be difficult and will provide careers advice and counsel before such decisions are reached.
